The Vijay Group began as a small distribution company in 1994 and has evolved to become the most well known name in the dealership of construction equipment in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The Group now has four full fledged branches, a service centre and four stock points across the state.
Vijaya Traders formed a partnership in 1992 and became distributors for Ingersoll-Rand road machinery and mining equipment for the Rayalseema region of Andhra Pradesh. With dedication and diligence the firm was able to consistently exceed targets set by the company and thereafter the principals extended the distributorship for the entire state of Andhra Pradesh. Vijaya Traders also won the prestigious Best Dealer in India award for three years consecutively from 1997 onward for being the largest dealer for Ingersoll-Rand range of equipment.

Having attained experience as an equipment dealer exemplifying outstanding achievement since 1999, Vijaya Traders was offered the dealership for Volvo Construction Equipment which in turn led to the birth of Vijay Engineering Equipment. Despite the heavy competition Vijay Engineering Equipment faced from well established leaders it succeeded in establishing a formidable presence in the construction industry with meticulous planning and strong relationships. Vijay Engineering Equipment can also boast of a comprehensive set of service networks that span all of Andhra Pradesh staffed with qualified and trained service engineers and support personnel to provide“Just-in-time” technical support.
Following along these best practices The Group established a strategic business unit for Rental Fleet in 2008 with construction equipment of Volvo and other equipment like Batching Plants, Light Towers and Transit Concrete Mixers. The Group took care not to represent machinery that competed with Volvo machinery. The new venture has proved to be very successful and the current value of the equipment has increased from an initial Rs.14 crores ($2.8 million USD)  to Rs. 35 crores ($7 million USD) today.
In October 2004, Atlas Copco acquired the Drilling Products division of Ingersoll-Rand and Atlas Copco agreed to continue the dealership as before. The same products are now being marketed under the  banner of Vijay Equipment & Spares.
The boom in iron ore mining encouraged The Group to enter the mining arena and in 2002 Vijay Leasing Company (now Vijay Mining and Infra Corp. Pvt. Ltd.) took up a raising contract at a mine in Bellary. Encouraged by the huge success in this fresh venture, Vijay Leasing Company undertook raising contracts in three different mines with a cumulative area covering 200 acres. Vijay Leasing Company produces three different grades of iron ore.
The iron ore mines are a big challenge to the deployment of equipment and their execution and maintenance which are challenging due to the extremely harsh and punishing environment.  The kind of equipment used in this area generally undergoes heavy wear and tear unlike those in other mines and Vijay Leasing Company has proven its mettle by keeping the state of availability of equipment high and was able to stretch the performance of its leased equipment well beyond the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) expectations.
In 2008 Vijay Leasing Company won the award of contract for excavation and removal of overburden and Barytes ore at Mangampeta, Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh.  It is worthwhile to mention that this is the only economically viable Barytes mine in the world. The contract is for five years and can be extended by two years. Approximately sixty lakh Cu.M of overburden per year has to be removed annually in addition to the production of twenty four lakh tons of Barytes ore per year. The mine is of the open cast type with depths going up to two hundred metres. To achieve this objective detailed and elaborate plans have been put in place after extensive brainstorming and carefully chosen equipment worth over Rs. 75 crores ($15 million USD) has been deployed.  The equipment for drilling and excavation are state-of-the-art and have been chosen to augment productivity and fuel economy. A total fleet of one Volvo L 120 Loader, 60 Volvo  Tippers, 12 Caterpillar 1035 Dumpers, 2 Caterpillar D6R Dozers and 2 Caterpillar D8R Dozers, 12 Excavators of various sizes as well as Atlas Copco’s giant Crawler Driller machine CM 785 and smaller machines have been deployed effectively. The work has started in full swing and is comfortably ahead of planned targets.
In September 2009 Vijay Leasing Company entered into an agreement with AMR constructions to deploy equipment for the excavation of 2 crore Cu M.annually at The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. at OC2 Manuguru, Khammam District and deployed one L120 Loader, 100 Volvo trucks with a bucket capacity of 19.5 Cu M, nineteen Volvo EC 46 tonne excavators, four 785 Atlas Copco Drilling Machines and other drilling equipment apart from the other regular and basic maintenance equipment required for mining activity. This project is well ahead of schedule.
Altogether the mines have a big fleet of Excavators, Loaders, Drillers,Dumpers, Graders, Compactors and Crushers. Added together the number of construction and mining equipment of different types in all mines is 450. Vijay Leasing Company also specializes in Crushing and Screening activities in the mines. Starting with a turnover of Rs. 33 crores ($ 6.6 million USD) in 2006-07, Vijay Leasing Company reached a target of Rs. 317 crores ($63.4 million USD) currently and is also formalizing on plans and strategies to export directly.
Having tasted success in the mining activity, specifically iron ore excavation, Vijay Group further diversified into granite quarrying by acquiring sixteen acres of quarry in Chimakurthy in Ongole district of AP. The quarry produces the famous “Black Galaxy” and Vijay Mining Pvt Ltd (VMPL) reached a turnover of Rs. 12 crores ($2.4 million USD) currently. With the granite sector booming VMPL has acquired further quarries of thirty five acres in Karimnagar where the granite material “Tan Brown” is produced.
Vijay Mining Pvt. Ltd. has been selling granite blocks locally to exporters and also taking direct export orders from its overseas customers. At present equipment like Excavators, Dumpers, Cranes, Compressors and Drilling equipment (Sandvik & Atlas Copco)  valued at Rs.15  crores ($3 million USD) are deployed in Chimakurthy and Karimnagar quarries.  As of today 600 Cu meters of granite is produced and sold here.  In  March’08 Vijay Mining Pvt. Ltd.  entered into Mica Mining in association with parties owning the mines and Vijay Mining Pvt. Ltd. has undertaken the responsibility of extracting the material and also selling it in the market. With increased demand for Mica world wide Vijay Mining Pvt. Ltd. expects to see steady growth in this industry. Already two Excavators and six Dumpers have been deployed for the mining operations.
Vijay Homes & Realtors Pvt. Ltd. was launched in April’08 with “Vijay Homes” the first housing venture in the town of Pulivendula. Spread over thirty one acres amidst idyllic surroundings, Vijay Homes has planned 226 beautiful duplex houses in a gated community with all amenities for a relaxed home. The total project cost is estimated at Rs.90 crores ($18 million USD).
